The Shadow over the Moon
That’s interesting thought Chuckle there seems to be a shadow over part of the moon this evening. He rubbed his eyes and looked again, 'the shadow that I thought was there isn’t there anymore', he thought to himself. ' Hmmm, that’s fascinating that is, I will find out more about that apparent shadow later, I am hungry and I want some food'. It was a glorious summer evening and the wonderful summery aromas that filled the atmosphere made his nose tingle and his body started to quiver a little with anticipation of the walk that he had planned to find some food. He savoured the taste in his mouth cavity and decided to go blackberry hunting. He knew where the blackberries should be and decided he would wear his blackberry coloured shirt. He didn’t need a jumper but because the weather might change, although looking at the clear blue sky that was unlikely but there was some cloud on the horizon, so he decided to wear his light jacket and started his journey.
Chuckle’s parents were working class people who believed fervently in equal opportunities for all with every human being given the opportunity to fulfil their natural potential in their chosen field and he had learned to look after himself. He started his walk and soon found the blackberries; exactly where he had recalled they should be, by the side of the river. He picked a handful, carefully choosing the biggest and ripest ones, sat on the slight hill overlooking the river and started to eat his fill.
Whilst he was eating he noticed the moon again. It was a full moon and the shadow that he had noticed before seemed to have gone. It must have been a small cloud that somehow partly obscured the moon, he thought to himself. Chuckle had the ability to picture stories, ideas or plans. He had done this ever since he was a little boy and what he knew was that the only time he could do this was when he got is eyelids moving from the raised position to the lowered position and back to the raised position again. He kept his eyelids moving by being more observant of the surrounding fauna and flora and looked again at the clouds, which had now started to come towards him, and then looked at the moon. “Ah”, he exclaimed to himself I think I know how that apparent shadow got there and it was not a cloud as I thought previously I pictured it there!
He recalled that he had been thinking, earlier that evening, about a saying that adults commonly use about being ‘over the moon’, in other words delighted about something that they had done, and without realising it he had projected an image of himself onto the moon. He laughed out loud as he realised the truth of what he had concluded, since as he applied the saying to himself and pictured the result he thought of another title of his picturing as another story entitled a ‘Trip to the moon’.
He took another good look at the moon again with his right eye, smiled to himself as the shadow had disappeared and thought to himself in the future am going to use the phrase ‘I am delighted with what I have done’ rather than picture anything.
