Desire sensed; Desire fulfilled
In his travels along the canal bank Chuckle met a gentleman who is about 66 years old, the guess of his age Chuckle chuckled to himself, had some veiled reference to the secret of 666 in St. John’s Revelations but he hadn’t got a crown or horns on his head and he wasn’t to be seen in visionary form sitting on a throne surrounded by the chanting four creatures, he was a kindly person and he decided to call him Sir. As an aside to himself, Chuckle reminded himself, reference to his connection to St John’s Revelations, that the Creator is already on earth. It, the Creator, designed all living things and I enjoy the result of that creation that I am surrounded by, a wonderland of discovery.
Sir, who was close by now, said to him ”you seem to be enjoying yourself young man playing and observing the ducks and the geese”. Chuckle thought to himself ‘ that’s very interesting no one has told me that before, enjoyment, enjoyment’, he continued to think to himself, ‘I suppose I just accept that as his opinion’. He thought a little while, looking up at Sir whilst doing so and remembering the advice he had been given in the past to think before opening his mouth to speak, said to Sir, “now I know what you mean by enjoyment Sir”.
Chuckle and Sir sat down on the lock gates. It was a beautiful day with a blue sky and hardly a cloud to be seen and Chuckle got out his sandwiches, fruit and raw vegetables, that he had brought with him and offered Sir some. He also shared the water that he had brought with him.
After they had finished eating Sir said to him, “my guess is that you were not thinking about what you were doing you were just doing it. I said you are enjoying yourself but you were already enjoying yourself quite happily playing and enjoying being in the open air. There are a lot of people on planet earth who try to do what you are already doing but what they have not realised is they stop themselves, with their thinking, which they create, from doing it because it is not acceptable or worthwhile, as an adult in this society, to do it”.
“I understand exactly what you are saying,” said Chuckle, “because I realised many months ago that whilst I was playing I seemed to believe that I needed to think about what I was doing when in fact sometimes the very act of thinking stopped me doing it, like, for example, walking across the lock gates to get to the other side, thinking I might fall in if I did so. I realised that as soon as I stopped thinking and was careful, which I am naturally, I learnt to get to the other side of the canal without any undo effort and without all the thinking about possible outcomes. You see Sir”, Chuckle continued, “what matters to me is that, if in the future, I wanted to cross to the other side of the canal then I will be able do so, providing I am physically capable, to fulfil the desire to go into the woods on the other side simply because I am interested in something I have seen in the woods. I can do this without any thinking because it is unnecessary”. Chuckle continued, “do you know something else Sir, the reason I was enjoying myself was because I was doing something that I wanted to do, including playing. Now if people discover what they really want to do and do it, there would a lot less problems in the world and more enjoyment only thinking when it is necessary to think”.
Sir replied, “I like what you have said I will try putting your ideas into practice myself”. They partly amicably and went their respective ways.
